The UrbinoInAcquerello Association wants to highlight the importance of the new
discoveries that follow one another in the astronomical, physical, meteorological and
technological fields and for this reason it believes it merits to honor the memory of
Alessandro Serpieri (1823-1885) on the bicentenary of his birth.
He was a scientist who dealt with astronomy, seismology, meteorology and physics, he
carried out much of his work in Urbino not only as a scientist, but also as a teacher. In this
context, however, he believed that it is necessary to reflect on current events: war,
destruction, brutality, hatred and drawing inspiration from a verse by John Lenon from the
song "Imagine" "Imagine there are no countries, it's not difficult. Nothing to kill and die for.
Imagine everyone living their lives in peace” makes us reflect on the importance of peace
between men which can become a “Wonder”.
“In search of wonder” is the title of the UrbinoInAcquerello 2024 Festival and is aimed both
at the new generations, who have the energetic potential of curiosity as their main stimulus,
and at national and international artists, who have the stimulus of creativity due to
experience. For the UrbinoInAcquerello Association, the fusion of these stimuli is the right
ingredient to try and find that "wonder"
Each work can be a wonder to spread emotions, optimism, simplicity, ideality, creation,
unity, etc.
The UrbinoInAcquerello Association believes that if we had the courage to really listen to the
artists, many of the tensions and crises that our planet has been experiencing for years would
be avoided.
The Festival will take place in the City of Urbino through the exhibition of the works of
national/international artists and school pupils.
A high-quality catalog will be created for the artists, in which pages will be reserved to
include some works by students of the participating Italian/foreign schools and their names.
The catalog will also be published and distributed in national-international libraries.
The Festival will take place in May 2024
